Gaststeel was incorporated at the end of 1983 with a buyout by two Jannock employees, Bob Gatley and Toros Assadourian. In 1990, Bob Gatley sold his interest to Toros Assadourian, who operated the company until July, 2011.

In July, 2011, Gatsteel was purchased by Venture Steel Inc., a large, automotive focused, growth oriented steel service centre with locations in Canada, USA, and Mexico. Gatsteel continues to operate as a full service construction/light manufacturing service centre, with a focus on “non-automotive” end users. Gatsteel now enjoys the added benefit of being part of a larger metals buying group.

Gatsteel operates from a 54,000 square foot manufacturing facility located in Etobicoke, Ontario. Sales offices in Toronto and Montreal enable Gatsteel to service Ontario, Quebec and the Eastern provinces. Gatsteel is committed to being the leading supplier of coated products, cold rolled and Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled sheet and coil, servicing the construction, appliance, HVAC, and light manufacturing sectors.
